A former baby sitter accused of letting a man molest and photograph children in his care pleaded guilty yesterday to felony charges. On the day his trial was scheduled to begin, Aaron Zendejas, 24, pleaded guilty to committing a lewd act on a child, a kidnapping allegation and production of child pornography for commercial purposes. San Diego Superior Court Judge David Danielsen scheduled a hearing for Dec. 1, when Zendejas could be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Zendejas was arrested in January and charged with five felonies involving a 3-year-old boy. In light of the plea yesterday, prosecutors dropped the remaining charges. Deputy District Attorney Matthew Greco has said Zendejas did not molest the boy himself, but acted as an aider and abettor who was paid to bring the boy to Jared Yaffe of Santee. Yaffe, 30, faces 20 counts related to child molestation, kidnapping for sexual acts and production of child pornography. If convicted, he could be sent to prison for 129 years to life. Yaffe's preliminary hearing, during which a judge will be asked to decide whether enough evidence exists for the case to go to trial, is scheduled for Nov. 4. Although he was a fugitive at the time, prosecutors filed the criminal charges against Yaffe early this year. He was arrested in Brazil in May and brought back to San Diego. Greco has said Yaffe victimized several children and teenagers between March and September 2008. A tip prompted authorities to investigate Yaffe last year. They searched his home in October and found evidence on his computer that led to the charges, the prosecutor said. Report: Ct. Man Swung Baby Sharply Before Death - 1010Wins Posted: 29 Oct 2009 04:28 AM PDT NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- The arrest warrant for a North Haven man charged in the death of his 4-month-old niece says he confessed to police that he swung the baby sharply and saw her head "snap." Thirty-three-year-old David Canizares was arraigned Wednesday in Meriden Superior Court on charges of risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment. He was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bond. North Haven police say in the arrest warrant that the baby, Makayla Lynn Masella Aseltine, suffered severe head injuries while Canizares was baby-sitting her and his 14-month-old daughter Sunday night. The warrant says Canizares told police that he was holding the baby and became agitated when his daughter tried to touch his niece's soiled diaper. The warrant says that's when he swung the baby.
